I was almost beginning to lose hope that any big corporate sponsors would be willing to support this fundraiser. After receiving quite a few responses from companies who declined to participate, it seemed like a big sponsor would be a longshot. But then I got an email from Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment! This is an excerpt:

On behalf of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, I want to thank you for your charitable donation request and am pleased to share with you that your request has been APPROVED!
How about that! They will be sending Toronto Maple Leaf merchandise which then can be auctioned off to raise money. Now when people ask “do you have any sponsors yet?” the answer can be “Yes! The Leafs.” We’re one step closer to to $10,000 goal. Thank you MLSE!
